Endocrine disruptors: danger for our babies!

Endocrine disruptors are substances that may modify the hormonal system. Some of them duplicate the effect of an hormone or block its receptor. Other hinder transport, production or degradation of the hormones in the body. Their action is detrimental, especially on the embryo, and on young children: then, the development and the future role of the organs may be disturbed, with consequences such as important deformity and/or dysfunctions of the sexual organs. They may be also a cause of the decreasing fertility rate seen in more and more developed countries.
