Ecocert Fair Trade

Developed by Ecocert in 2010, the EFT Standard (Ecocert Fair Trade) translates fair trade principles into objective criteria.

The EFT Standard links fair trade and organic agriculture for food, cosmetics and textiles. The Ecocert logo is a guarantee for a full civic-minded approach: eco - and human species-aware products.

The basic principles of the EFT Standard come as four main points:

1. The accountability for environment
Good practice shall be enforced in every aspect of the production chain (organic production, bio diversity observance, thorough look at all the energy concerns, water and waste management …).

2. The accountability for social aspects
Working conditions as defined by the International Labor Organization (ILO) shall be abided.

3. The solidarity in its economic aspects
Companies, which are at the heart of the system, commit themselves with the producers and their organizations to:
• Keep the fabric of the rural life and increase producers' capabilities
• Help producers and their organizations in becoming more autonomous
• Give value to the local products and know-how

4. Transparency
The label of a product and the website of the brand make it easy to get pieces of information about the regional origin of the product, the economic, social and environmental conditions of its production, the fair price, the percentage of fair ingredients …
